I stand corrected; there ARE private messages. I just didn't know how to get to them. lol.

I've found that private messaging on a forum is quite a valuable tool to have for a myriad of reasons and unless it's implementation would be very difficult I would very much like to see it in this new forum,

Everything else seems like it would be great though.

Thank you all for your input, including a few folks who have contacted me directly by email. :) I promise some potentially awesome, BIG BIG stuff is happening behind the scenes. I'll outline a few things...

I'm not sure if I want to keep the site a simple forum, or go more complex. I've found an absolutely fantastic site framework that seems really, really exciting and potentially very fitting. On the other hand, I'm not too familiar with it AND it may be over kill. I have the barest of sites pieced together using the framework, but I've shown it to a few friends and one person who used to be a regular around these parts.

In short, I need people to kick the tires and grumble a bit and tell me what they think... without pinning me into a position where I have to promise that yes, this is absolutely the direction I plan to go in.

This new site would bring a new name, and a new URL, and a new look. Furry personas wouldn't be a requirement any longer, but certainly I'd want a focus on the fantastical -- from faeries to steampunk cyber-people to furries and so forth; just no run of the mill everyman humans. ;) That's a bit of a change, I admit, but it would also potentially open up the site to more than a small niche of people.

At the same time I'd love to explore what an -adult- site could be. Not just sex, not just bondage; but -adults- conversing and roleplaying. I'd love to see drama -- er, FICTIONAL drama -- be worked at and that would include sex, yes, but not only.

Here's what's on the new site at the moment: integrated microblogging/activity feed. A friend's list (but no private messaging). A forum. A profile including avatars and a mini-gallery, meant not to replace places like FA or dA, but rather to just host a few pictures, perhaps of characters... And site-groups, leading into a great new feature named "Docs".

Docs are complex, but also very nifty. Basically you'd go into a group and go to their docs page and you could start a new story, or edit one you've already created. When you create a Doc there's an option to let others come back and edit it, or not. This would enable multiple people to work on the same document -- be that a sort of wiki-light to provide role play summaries, or character info, or whatever... or you could write a complex, multi-chapter story together.

It also allows for a 'round robin' style of document, where you can post your section and lock it off, but someone can come back and write a continuation -- and both documents would link between the other, so the next chapter was just a click away. Both types allow for 'tagging', so it's easy to find stories of a certain type.

At least, in theory. As I said, this framework is unfamiliar to me and I've just got the barest of sites built for testing and messing about.

So yes -- if any of this sounds potentially exciting to you and you'd like to volunteer to help me by registering and having a look about a site in active development, please EMAIL me at [email protected] :)

All I did was report one spam message.  ;D

I too would like to see this place revived; whether in a new location or via a reboot right here.

Hello, all!

Not sure if this is an exclusive thread, but I thought I would give my two cents if I could. Now I haven't been with this community for as long as you guys, but I have come to see this place as a bit of a second life for me. True, a lot of the boards are at current dead status, and I would say that the place could probably use a facelift to bring back the old crew. I personally believe that a new beginning is needed if this place is to go on. It would tear me up to see it die off.

As for ideas, why not just keep what's here and add more emphasis on the RP boards? At least, that is what I would like to see done.

L8r!!! ;D

Oh, hey, look, I can log in again.
Sorry about the spam that had been around, I strived to remove it everyday I could but for a while there I had a "ban" on my account because I use the yahoo e-mail so I couldn't log in. It seems the ban got changed to just "can't register" so having already done that I can log in again.

I think a new forum might be a good idea. I don't know how much it costs to keep this one going, if anything, but it shouldn't be too hard to pull something of a migration while still keeping this forum around.
Just shut down registration and make a news post about it for anyone new that the group has moved to the new place with a link. That way everything here could be kept as a sort of "archive" without having to copy any files. I mean, this place has been running for years so I don't think just keeping it around if we did move would be too much trouble.

Of course this place is working just fine itself, if it is a bit of a ghost forum. It works, and short of not being able to clean up the members list me and StormKitty have been doing a rather good job at keeping too much dust from settling in the cracks.
I think one of the main problem is that this has always been an "Adult Story" site. Now places like SoFurry are all about "Adult Art" but others such as FA and DA about about the whole range. "Range" is the other problem here, in that this site is about bondage stories and the like. I know there are a lot of people who do enjoy those types of stories but it is still only a small portion of the whole.
I personally have read a lot of stories I have really enjoyed over the past few months but exactly zero of them are "relevant" to this site in terms of content.

That is something a kind of "re-branding" could help with. Go from a nitch story forum to cover more types of stories with sub-forums for each type. The problem with that is when stories start over-lapping in terms of mood and core theme... . It's not an easy "problem" to tackle and is not something that would be solved overnight.

I'm kind of a neutral party in this right now. I'm fine with staying or moving. I've said my ideas and would act better as more of a sounding-board to bounce various other ideas back and forth off of.
